Dr. Ronak Mukesh Patel is a Board-Certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specialized in the treatment of hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow injuries. Dr. Patel is committed to guiding his patients to a complete recovery and a life without pain or restrictions through a full range of non-operative and operative treatment options, biologics, minimally invasive arthroscopy, and open surgery.

Dr. Patel’s clinical and research interests are focused on returning athletes to sport as well as joint preservation. Having served as a team physician for the Brooklyn Nets (NBA), St. Louis Blues (NHL), and Iona College (NCAA), he understands that a solid partnership between the doctor and the patient is critical to developing an individualized recovery plan. Dr. Patel strives to return athletes to their games as quickly as possible and to help all patients achieve their desired activities – from playing with grandchildren to returning to the field as a pro athlete – after treatment.

Dr. Patel completed orthopedic surgery residency at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he assisted in caring for the St. Louis Blues (NHL) athletes. He gained additional expertise while completing fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City, annually recognized by U.S. News and World Report as the #1 hospital for orthopedic surgery. During this time, he served as a team physician for the Brooklyn Nets (NBA). His roots are in Texas as he attended college at Texas A&M University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Patel has numerous published peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and textbook chapters, has been awarded various research grants to support his advancement of orthopedic science, and has won international/national research awards. He serves on the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Technology Committee.
